Triangle Strategy Wiki

Cordelia Glenbrook is a character in Triangle Strategy.

She is recruitable if the player chooses to deal with the Royalist in Chapter XV, Part I: A Banner's Worth.

Profile/Story[]

Princess of Glenbrook[]

Cordelia is the daughter of King Regna of the Glenbrook kingdom, as well as the younger sister of Roland Glenbrook and Frani Glenbrook. She prefers Roland's kindhearted nature to Frani's elitist attitude, and is first seen in Chapter II: To Arms, Brave Warriors.

Cordelia's worldview is shattered in Chapter VI: Remember Me, when her kingdom is seized by Archduke Gustadolph Aesfrost. Her brother, Frani Glenbrook, is slain right before her eyes, and her father, Regna Glenbrook, is executed the very next day. Cordelia's only surviving family member, Roland Glenbrook, flees to House Wolffort, leaving Cordelia as the only elligible person to ascend Glenbrook's throne.

Queen of Glenbrook[]

Although Cordelia became a queen in name, she was merely used as mouthpiece for Gustadolph. In order to bind her to Aesfrost, Gustadolph married Cordelia, essentially becoming Glenbrook's "king". Under his orders, she was forced to command the death of Glenbrook loyalists such as Landroi Falkes. While under Aesfrosti pressure, she also suffered horrible abuse from Aesfrost nobility Thalas Aesfrost and Erika Aesfrost. In Chapter IX, Part I: Dwindling Light, the last of her hope fades away when a body resembling Prince Roland Glenbrook is found dead. Not realizing the body was simply a fake Prince Roland, Cordelia steels her resolve to become not only a stronger person, but a stronger queen.

While Glenbrook was occupied by the Aesfrosti, Cordelia formed an unlikely friendship with General Avlora. Seeing Cordelia's endurance and desire to improve firsthand, Avlora decided to give Cordelia the respect befitting of a queen. In Chapter XIII, Part I: Our Time Has Come, the day before House Wolffort moved to retake Glenbrook, Cordelia confided her plan to betray the archduke with the help of kingdom loyalists to Avlora. Avlora, moved by Cordelia's determination, offers to aid the queen once she ensures Glenbrook is safe from harm.

  • If the War Council voted to flood the capital

House Wolffort floods Glenbrook, washing away most of the Aesfrosti forces. Thalas Aesfrost and Erika Aesfrost, taking one final stand on the Whiteholm Castle bridge, attempt to kill Prince Roland with an arrow, to which Cordelia responds by shielding Roland with her body. Cordelia incurs a serious wound as a result.

  • If the War Council voted to sneak into the castle

House Wolffort sneaks into Whiteholm Castle, avoiding most Aesfrosti forces. Avlora fiercely defends Cordelia, but is subdued by the might of House Wolffort. Despite Cordelia's protests, the vengeful Roland Glenbrook engages in a duel with Avlora, only for Avlora to escape at the last second.

  • If the War Council voted to negotiate on the bridge

While House Wolffort combats Thalas Aesfrost and Erika Aesfrost on the Whiteholm Castle Bridge, Avlora attempts to bring Cordelia to the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost via ship. Avlora's ship is ultimately captured before it reaches Aesfrost, and the general is taken down by House Wolffort's might. Just as Roland prepares to strike the killing blow against Avlora, Cordelia shields the general, begging Roland to stop his violence. Avlora then escapes into the river, respecting her liege's sacrifice. Cordelia incurs a serious wound as a result of Roland's attack.

Princess of Glenbrook[]

The heavy burden of leadership is finally lifted off of Cordelia's shoulders once Roland reclaims the throne. Most of her time is spent recovering from the harrowing events of the previous chapter.

If the War Council chooses to deal with the royalists in Chapter XV, Part I: A Banner's Worth, Cordelia gets onto the battlefield despite her wounds to deal with Patriatte Konsar. After ensuring Glenbrook's safety, she decides to devote herself to becoming a servant of her people, and joins House Wolffort for the remainder of the story.

Character Stories[]

Puppet Princess[]

Though the crown city has been freed from Aesfrost's clutches, the citizens continue to denounce Cordelia...

  • Cordelia: At last, Glenbrook is ours once more! We could not have done this without you, Hughette.
  • Cordelia: I cannot thank you enough for all you have done in service of the crown.
  • Hughette: I can take no credit. 'Twas all the efforts of Prince Roland and Lord Serenoa.
  • Hughette: And, of course, your loyal subjects, who have no doubt longed for your return.
  • Cordelia: ...Have they, indeed?
  • Cordelia: Can you hear them, Hughette? My beloved loyal subjects speak...
  • Falkes Citizen A: Show yourself, Cordelia! You traitor! Foul puppet of a princess!
  • Falkes Citizen B: Damned witch! Lord Landroi's blood is on your hands!
  • Falkes Citizen A: If that bastard Roland was alive, why didn't he show his face sooner!?
  • Falkes Citizen B: Lord Landroi gave his life for the crown, and you repay him with treachery and cowardice!?
  • Cordelia: It seems they would just as soon have my head—and Roland's, for that matter.
  • Hughette: What in the name of...? I'll disperse them at once.
  • Cordelia: I cannot stop you...but you should know they speak truth.
  • TITLE CARD: During the Aesfrosti occupation...
  • Gustadolph: Well? Have you made up your mind?
  • Cordelia: You ask as if I ever had a choice.
  • Gustadolph: How perceptive of you. Perhaps our little talk will not take so much time after all.
  • Gustadolph: I want you to declare to your people that the former Kingdom of Glenbrook is now under Aesfrosti rule.
  • Gustadolph: They must hear it from you if they are to accept this new reality.
  • Gustadolph: If, however, you refuse... Well, who can say what will become of us?
  • Gustadolph: House Falkes—loyal as they are to the crown—might erupt into open revolt.
  • Gustadolph: They are a fearsome lot, indeed. They would rain hellfire upon the castle.
  • Gustadolph: No doubt you can imagine what this would entail.
  • Cordelia: ......
  • Cordelia: Had I refused to go through with the archduke's plot, our kingdom would have been drowned in an ocean of blood.
  • Hughette: I understand your pain, Your Highness. I know how hard you've fought to survive.
  • Hughette: It is clear that the people, however, do not. They only see a pawn. A puppet. A traitor. This pains me...
  • Cordelia: I cannot deny their words.
  • Cordelia: But I cannot allow this chasm between the people and the royal family to deepen any further.
  • Cordelia: Tis a new era for Glenbrook, but our optimism must not blind us to the fissures beneath our feet—else in time they will swallow us whole.
  • Cordelia: I would heal these wounds properly, though I am not sure I know how...

A Princess and Her People[]

The people continue to condemn Cordelia, calling her the puppet princess, but she refuses to suffer in silence.

  • Hughette: Princess Cordelia! Are you here without so much as a single bodyguard!?
  • Cordelia: Yes. Today I have come to speak with my people!
  • Cordelia: Tell me true what troubles you.
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) A: Oh my— Is that truly Cordelia!?
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) B: What's that Aesfrosti pawn of a princess doin' here?
  • Hughette: How dare you besmirch Her Highness's good name!? Say that again and you'll—
  • Cordelia: Let them speak their minds, Hughette.
  • Cordelia: I am here to provide, not to punish. Tell me what you need, plainly and honestly.
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) A: ......
  • Glenbrook Subject (F): Might...might you spare some porridge? My poor child lies sick abed, hungry...
  • Cordelia: We have food enough for all. I shall send you some out at once, and a healer to you as well.
  • Cordelia: Fear not. Your child shall be back on her feet in due course.
  • Glenbrook Subject (F): Oh, thank you, Your Highness!
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) A: All the rumors said she was a traitorous puppet... Yet here she is bein' kind and reasonable.
  • Glenbrook Subject (F): She's always been a champion of the people.
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) B: Your Highness, we beg you forgive us our slander!
  • Hughette: They're no longer quite so restless.
  • Cordelia: During the Aesfrosti occupation, I was sealed away inside the castle.
  • Cordelia: I was but an ornament. Perched on the castle balcony, unable to speak to you as I do now...
  • Cordelia: It is no wonder you believed as you do. No one stood before you to tell you the truth.
  • Hughette: Halt! Not one step closer!
  • Falkes Citizen (M) A: (SHARP) Aesfrost may've been driven off, but now you've sold us to the traitorous House Wolfforts!
  • Falkes Citizen (M) B: Aye! Lord Landroi's blood stains your hands!
  • Falkes Citizen (M) A: Our homes burned to the ground in the fighting! We'll take your head before your damned food!
  • Hughette: Refugees from the Falkes demesne!
  • Cordelia: I accept full responsibility. You have every right to hate me as you do.
  • Glenbrook Subject (F): (SHARP) What could she possibly owe you lot!?
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) A: (SHARP) Take it up with Aesfrost! They're the ones who invaded our kingdom in the first place!
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) B: (SHARP) The princess has fulfilled her duty! Alone, no less, with King Regna and Prince Frani gone!
  • Glenbrook Subject (M) A: (SHARP) She put the lives of her subjects above all else!
  • Glenbrook Subject (F): (SHARP) I'll not stand for anyone speaking ill of Her Highness! Not after she's pledged to save my child!
  • Cordelia: Everyone, please...
  • Cordelia: Brave souls of House Falkes, pray hear my words.
  • Cordelia: I understand that you see naught in me but the enemy of your beloved Lord Landroi. I make no excuses for myself.
  • Cordelia: Your lord loved this kingdom as much as anyone. Please understand that I love it, too.
  • Cordelia: Each and every one of us trod a path paved with pain and sorrow to arrive here today.
  • Cordelia: But we must keep our eyes fixed upon a shared horizon, tempting though it may be to gaze upon the cracks in the path that divide us.
  • Cordelia: I ask only that you keep your heads held high, and join me in striving to rebuild Glenbrook to be stronger than ever before.
  • Cordelia: I swear to you that I will give all of myself in service to this kingdom.
  • Cordelia: I will show this with my every action, for I know that my words hold little purchase with you now.
  • Cordelia: Should you feel that I have wronged you anew, or lied to you once more... At that time you may have my head.
  • Hughette: Your Highness—!
  • Falkes Citizen (M) A: ...Sounds like you mean it. If you'd go that far, I reckon I can give you one last chance.
  • Falkes Citizen (M) A: But mark my words: my blade shall claim you if you renege on what you've said today.
  • Cordelia: May it be so.
  • Hughette: Most impressive, Your Highness. It would seem your words truly did reach the people's hearts.
  • Hughette: I can only hope this begins to heal the rift between the people and the royal family.
  • Cordelia: Even if it means speaking to every last one of my subjects in person, I shall see it done...

Mid-Battle Conversations[]

Chapter XV, Part II: Were I King[]

healing Roland[]

  • Cordelia: Allow me to aid you, dear brother!
  • Roland: Thank you, my sister. Your skills in healing are a boon to all.

vs. Patriatte[]

  • Cordelia: And so the royal family stands united. Patriatte, you will answer for your misdeeds!
  • Patriatte: You're making a grave miscalculation... Under what pretense do you lay the blame at my feet!?
  • Patriatte: You'll not find a greater Royalist in these lands!
  • Patriatte: Tell them, Cordelia! You know what I did!
  • Cordelia: Indeed, I sought your counsel while under Gustadolph's rule.
  • Cordelia: But those who would sow discord between the people and the royal family must be destroyed!

Chapter XVIII, Part II: Bound by Sorrow[]

vs. Gustadolph[]

  • Cordelia: Had I the strength at the time, I would have stopped you myself.
  • Gustadolph: You do not possess the strength even now. You are but dressing for your betters.
  • Cordelia: You've ever been too prideful to see the good in others. It's a shame you'll never learn.

Chapter XIX: A Dream in Winter[]

vs. Gustadolph[]

  • Cordelia: Gustadolph, I have come to put an end to this madness...
  • Gustadolph: So the puppet queen comes bearing arms. Who might be pulling your strings this time?
  • Cordelia: No one. I believe the path we have chosen is right.
  • Cordelia: I walk alongside House Wolffort of my own free will! Your reign ends here!

Final Chapter: For Norzelia[]

vs. Idore[]

  • Cordelia: Glenbrook will never submit to your tyranny, Idore! All people of Norzelia deserve to live in peace, and we shall bring it to them!
  • Idore: Spoken like a true princess-sweet words, but terribly naive. It takes more than a rosy outlook to achieve true peace.
