During the Saltiron war, the hierophant fell deathly ill, and presumably died from their sickness. Idore Delmira exploited this by creating a mechanical Hierophant with the help of Lyla Viscraft and Aelfric's power. Idore use the hierophant as a figurehead of his regime in Hyzante to express his own thoughts and decisions through his "consulting", firmly believing that an absolute leader is needed to guide the common folk due to their inability to properly lead themselves without conflict. Idore then ends the Saltiron War by offering Aesfrost a peace treaty under the condition that Orlaea is sent back to Hyzante.

Frederica[]

Serenoa Wolffort and Frederica Aesfrost liberate the Roselle at Hyzante's Source, and attempt to sail for Centralia after killing 3 of Hyzante's saints. Tenebris Mistel reports this news to Idore, who responds with the upmost fury. Idore and his army intercept the Rosellan escape ship at Norzelia's border via horse automaton. Although his army is initially subdued by House Wolffort, Idore prepares to unleash one last Aelfric attack to wipe out the Roselle once and for all. Serenoa Wolffort valiantly keeps Idore at bay while the Rosellans escape, causing the Serenoa and Idore to die in the ensuing Aelfric blast.

Roland[]

Serenoa Wolffort and Roland Glenbrook offer both the salt crystals and Glenbrook to Hyzante. Idore, amazed by this show of faith, kills the traitorous Tenebris Mistel so Roland would take Tenebris' role as saint. Serenoa, Exharme, and Roland defeat the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, cementing Idore's hold over an unified Norzelia.

Benedict[]

When the Kingdom of Glenbrook and the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost mount a joint attack on the Holy State of Hyzante, Idore takes Tenebris Mistel aside. Idore reveals that he knows of Tenebris' crimes against Hyzante, but offers him absolution if he takes The Hierophant to Serenoa's location so the automation could massacre his group. But in reality, Idore sacrificed Tenebris as a distraction to escape Hyzante during the chaos that followed. Idore is seen in the epilogue, spreading the Goddess' Teachings in the edges of Norzelia to those disadvantaged by Glenbrook's and Aesfrost's meritocracy.

Golden[]

House Wolffort marches into the Hierophant’s Palace to confront Idore and The Hierophant, only to learn of the the hierophant's true nature upon looking into her chamber. Idore explains that only an emotionless, sinless machine is capable of leading humanity. He believes that only a savior like himself is effective to lead mankind. Absorbing Aelfric energies, Idore and his mechanical hierophant face off against House Wolffort in a final clash of convictions.

Serenoa is triumphant, but a dying Idore detonates every remaining Aelfric in the hierophant’s palace in an attempt take House Wolffort down with him. In his final moments, Idore tells Serenoa that his chosen path is impossible and that humans' unpredictability will always lead to suffering.

Mid-Battle Conversations[]

Final Chapter: Blessed Freedom[]

vs. Frederica[]

  • Idore: You should be ashamed of yourself, Frederica. Seducing these poor people to follow a path that leads to naught but ruin...
  • Frederica: They have chosen hope! Hope that their future holds something beyond the endless suffering they've endured as Hyzante's scapegoats!
  • Idore: One's joy is guaranteed, so long as one obeys the Goddess in all things. You have cast that aside.
  • Frederica: How dare you call what you've put them through "joy"!
  • Idore: Oh, but it is. What greater happiness can there be, but cleansing oneself of sin?
  • Frederica: We have revealed the Teachings for the falsehoods that they are! It is past time you pay for what you've done, Idore!
  • Idore: Orlaea's spawn... That entire line seems determined to stand in my way!
  • Frederica: I am determined to finish what my mother started, and lead the Roselle to freedom!

vs. Archibald[]

  • Archibald: Give it up, Idore. There is no future for the Goddess or Her Teachings.
  • Idore: How wrong you are, Archibald. As long as we have the Holy One, Her future—our future—is glorious and everlasting!
  • Archibald: Nothing lasts forever, nor should it. Time passes, and things change—that is nature's way.

vs. Ezana[]

  • Ezana: I will use what power I've been blessed with to prevent the Teachings from harming anyone any further!
  • Idore: Harm? No one comes to any harm in Hyzante. How dare you utter such blasphemy in my presence!

vs. Narve[]

  • Narve: I've been waiting for this... The day I get to use my grandfather's magic to destroy you!
  • Idore: Careful, boy. Striking me is tantamount to striking the Goddess Herself.
  • Narve: You're the one who ought to be careful! You're going to pay for what you did to the archmage Grandante!

vs. Travis[]

  • Travis: Me, I don't care about the Goddess or rebelling or whatever—but the treasure in Centralia? Now that's worth fighting for!
  • Idore: There is no such place, and no such treasure. You poor people, being fed these lies...

vs. Trish[]

  • Trish: You miserable, rotten, lying old man! You think you can prey on the weak and helpless and get away with it?
  • Trish: Think again! Now you've got to reckon with me!
  • Idore: Filthy thief. You will be judged, and punished. The Goddess does not look kindly upon greed.

vs. Lionel[]

  • Lionel: When Lionel threw in his lot with Wolffort, he never wagered he'd end up in a battle against Minister Idore...
  • Idore: Such a shame. If it was profit you were after, merchant, all you had to do was work hard at your trade and the Goddess would have smiled upon you.

vs. Milo[]

  • Idore: Milo... After all I have done for you, this is how you repay me?
  • Milo: I was never anything but a useful tool to you. But the Wolfforts... They treat me like a person. Like a friend.

vs. Julio[]

  • Julio: Hyzante's prosperity is built upon a foundation of lies. You think that is justice?
  • Idore: "Justice." A meaningless word. One can only prosper when one obeys the Goddess and Her Teachings.

vs. Hossabara[]

  • Idore: I shall not allow outsiders to make a mockery of our history and traditions.
  • Hossabara: You'd cut down a horse for whinnying the wrong way, you old bastard. You think the Roselle want to go back to living under someone like that?

Final Chapter: For Norzelia[]

vs. Serenoa[]

  • Idore: Your misguided ideals threaten to corrupt the realm, Serenoa Wolffort. I shall cut off their spread at the source.
  • Idore: Repent, and I shall grant you a swift death.
  • Serenoa: I walk a path unclouded by doubt. A path of my own making. Come what may, my steps shall never waver.

vs. Roland[]

  • Idore: And then what, my young King? Do you have the resolve to steer Norzelia upon the right course?
  • Roland: Perhaps once I would have said no to your question. But that was simply because I was afraid. Afraid to crawl before I could walk.
  • Roland: But my friend showed me that at the end of suffering and uncertainty lies truth. I may be king by virtue of birth, but I will do all in my power to earn my title!

vs. Frederica[]

  • Frederica: The Roselle have been freed and the Saintly Seven are no more. Nothing remains of the Hyzante you built, Idore.
  • Idore: On the contrary. So long as I exist, so long as the hierophant stands, faith can be rekindled. And Hyzante's glory shall be reborn.
  • Idore: History is written by the victors. Truth is made by the triumphant.
  • Frederica: You are blinded by your ambition, and perhaps have ever been. Norzelia shall not know peace until it is rid of you.

vs. Benedict[]

  • Benedict: So long as there are people to subjugate, your appetite shall never be sated. This cruel crusade of yours will never end.
  • Idore: Such is the purpose of the Church. If the wise do not guide the meek, they shall squabble endlessly without aim.
  • Benedict: See where your guidance has led them, Idore! No longer shall they suffer for your sake!

vs. Geela[]

  • Geela: So much talent and wisdom, all made to serve a single man's desires. How many have suffered at the altar of your pride?
  • Idore: I needn't concern myself with the opinion of one such as you. Talent and wisdom is worthless without a guiding hand, and that hand is mine.
  • Geela: I see you are beyond reasoning. All that is left for us is to ensure your twisted philosophy ends with you!

vs. Anna[]

  • Anna: I'll kill you and end the war. Prepare to die.
  • Idore: Oh, you misguided little girl. It is I, and I alone, who has the power to end this. And when I do, I shall awaken House Wolffort from their delusion.

vs. Hughette[]

  • Hughette: We've come to many crossroads in our journey, and not always taken the right path.
  • Hughette: However, there is no doubting what we must do now. For the good of one and all, we shall deny your future and strike you down where you stand!
  • Idore: Soldiers aren't meant to think. Be quiet and accept your judgement.

vs. Erador[]

  • Erador: I'll be the first to admit I ain't much for words, but even a fool can see what sets milord apart from the likes of you.
  • Erador: When Serenoa speaks of Norzelia, of its future, I feel hopeful. With you, I feel only the cold cruelty of a man who thinks he's better than me.
  • Idore: What use is hope? A poison that rots people's hearts and gives them false pretenses. And when those ridiculous ideals aren't met, they suffer.
  • Idore: Hope must be stamped out. The flock must learn to be led.

vs. Corentin[]

  • Corentin: You've perverted our research, Idore. No longer!
  • Idore: Aelfric was made to guide our flock to a greater tomorrow. Be grateful something you created will have a role in their salvation.

vs. Rudolph[]

  • Rudolph: I reckon even the evil'd be ashamed to have ye in their company. Least they have the sense to realize what they're doin' is wrong.
  • Idore: You speak to me of evil, yet is is you who would see my justice undone. I serve only the welfare of my flock.

vs. Narve[]

  • Narve: I've been waiting for this moment, Idore. Today I take vengeance for my grandfather and all the rest you've caused misery!
  • Idore: Ah, so you're Grandante's descendant. Good. I can bring his wretched name to an end once and for all.

vs. Hossabara[]

  • Idore: I am eternal...My judgement absolute!
  • Hossabara: I've had enough of your preaching. No one'll listen to your orders after we're done with you.
  • Idore: I speak the truth. If you are too foolish to heed my words, then there is little I can do.

vs. Julio[]

  • Julio: Your words are full of pride and self-conceit. They wither in comparison to Lord Serenoa's bright vision of the future.
  • Idore: The wise man pays no heed to the ramblings of fools. I suggest you learn to follow, or die.

vs. Piccoletta[]

  • Piccoletta: Get those wrinkly hands away from Lord Serenoa!
  • Idore: Such a shame. I hate to cut a young life so short.

vs. Jens[]

  • Jens: Happiness is the product of our mistakes and growth. Taking that from us is akin to robbing us of our very humanity!
  • Idore: I do naught but teach people their place. They only need look to the wise and obey.

vs. Lionel[]

  • Lionel: Hmm...The Aelfric crystals are sure to fetch a high price. In the name of mercantile progress, Lionel shall strike you down!
  • Idore: Another fool, driven by greed. You would repackage people's misery and sell it back to them with a smile.

vs. Ezana[]

  • Ezana: I fled from Hyzante once, but never again. Today I fight, that she may see a brighter tommorrow!
  • Idore: A shaman? You are naught but anathema to the faith, and must be purged.

vs. Medina[]

  • Medina: You've scorned the natural order Idore, giving life to the lifeless. You're beyond saving, Idore!
  • Idore: All for the good of the people. For that, I will go to any lengths.

vs. Archibald[]

  • Archibald: Open your eyes, Idore. The future belongs to the young, not the old and tired.
  • Idore: You were ever naive, Archibald, depsite your years. Only I am fit to guide us into the future. Do not think to stop me.

vs. Groma[]

  • Groma: I should've killed you thirty years ago, Idore. Regardless, our time is coming to an end.
  • Idore: Even the Iron Fist must succumb to the ravages of age, I see. But I am not like you Groma. I am eternal, and shall deliver everlasting peace to Norzelia!

vs. Flanagan[]

  • Flanagan: Your warped schemes come to an end here, Idore.
  • Idore: I but answer the needs of the flock. They guide me, and I guide them in turn.

vs. Decimal[]

  • Decimal: I know now why you considered me a failure. And I pity you...
  • Idore: That is exactly why you were fit only for scrap. Yours was not to think, but to deliver the will of the Holy One.
  • Decimal: No one is fit to judge my failures but me. No one else will shape my actions!

vs. Quahaug[]

  • Quahaug: I see the future unfolding before me. A future without you in it.
  • Idore: Ah, so you're the child with the "gift" of foresight. I shall consider it my holy duty to burn the seed of heresy from the earth.

vs. Giovanna[]

  • Giovanna: I've finally found the answers I've been searching for. Answers about salt and the Source. All that remains is to strike you down and let the realm know its true history.
  • Idore: Norzelia shall have but one history: that on this day, heretics tried and failed to seduce the people, and were slaughtered for their sins.

vs. Maxwell[]

SpoilerIcon
"The following section contains major spoilers for Triangle Strategy."
  • Maxwell: It is our ability to face death with dignity that makes human life precious. One who would forsake that has no right to lead others.
  • Idore: And what have you done for your fellow man, Dawnspear? Killed them, time and again. Don't speak to me of humanity!
"This is the end of the spoilers in this section."

vs. Cordelia[]

  • Cordelia: Glenbrook will never submit to your tyranny, Idore! All people of Norzelia deserve to live in peace, and we shall bring it to them!
  • Idore: Spoken like a true princess-sweet words, but terribly naive. It takes more than a rosy outlook to achieve true peace.

vs. Trish[]

  • Trish: Give it up, old man! Ye might have yer fancy mystic arts, but that's no match for a bandit's intuition.
  • Idore: The Goddess deems silence a virtue, girl. Be virtuous in your last moments.

vs. Travis[]

  • Travis: I ain't naught but a simple mountainfolk, but it don't take a great mind to tell yer a man of wicked intent.
  • Idore: I'll pay no heed to heathens and criminals. Your end is nigh.

vs. Milo[]

  • Milo: You ramble on endlessly about justice, but what you truly fear is being denied!
  • Idore: Silence, child. What does one such as you know of my position? You overstep your bounds.

vs. Avlora[]

SpoilerIcon
"The following section contains major spoilers for Triangle Strategy."
  • Avlora: You and Gustadolph were but two sides of the same coin. And both of you will die alone with only your tattered ambition by your side.
  • Idore: The wise man stands alone. Such is his duty, for how else would he lead?
