Oparyn's grandfather, Archmage Grandante, was once a revered wizard respected all across Norzelia. However, Grandante's legacy has mysteriously withered, leaving Narve to take up his grandfather's robes and restore his honor.

A Strange Mage[]
A boy in strange garb comes to speak with Serenoa, claiming to be the grandson of the archmage Grandante...
- Wolffort Soldier: Halt! This is the encampment of House Wolffort.
- Oddly Dressed Youth: Splendid! For it's Lord Wolffort himself that I came to see. Lead me to him, my good man!
- Wolffort Soldier: Hah! Big words from a shady-looking fellow in that ridiculous garb. Begone at once!
- Oddly Dressed Youth: Ridiculous!? Why, I'll have you know that these robes are a treasured relic of...
- Wolffort Soldier: Did I ask about your robes!? I said begone!
- Oddly Dressed Youth: Wait, I say!
- ...Ho there! Lord Wolffort! Can you hear me!?"
- Serenoa: What's all the commotion here?
- Wolffort Soldier: This strange lad demands an audience with you, Lord Serenoa, and stubbornly refuses to leave.
- Narve: The name's Narve.
- Narve: Grandson and last disciple of the archmage Grandante, here to offer my services!
- Geela: ...The archmage Grandante?
- Geela: Forgive me, but in all my years of studying the arcane arts, I've never once heard that name.
- Narve: You haven't? Oh, I see... I suppose you won't have.
- Geela: Ah, I'm...sorry if I offended you.
- Narve: You needn't apologize, miss. Let's start over, shall we?
- Narve: Let me show you just what the final disciple of the archmage Grandante can do!
- Wolffort Soldier: Incredible!
- Narve: Well? What do you think?
- Geela: I've never seen anything quite like it. Were you born with magic like this? Or perhaps...
- Narve: My illustrious grandfather—the archmage Grandante, that is—taught me all I know!
- Narve: Please, let me join your army! I'm most certain my sorcery could avail you to no end!
- Geela: Lord Serenoa, this boy possesses remarkable talent. I must admit he would make a formidable addition to our forces.
- Serenoa: Thank you, Geela. Narve, I welcome you to House Wolffort.
- Narve: Thank you, my lord! My magic will change the world—just you wait and see!
- Wolffort Soldier: Lord Serenoa.
- Wolffort Soldier: That...strangely dressed boy requests an audience with you.
- Wolffort Soldier: He says he was driven from his home with nowhere to go...
- Serenoa: Hmm... I will hear what he has to say.
- Narve: Are you the lord of House Wolffort? I am Narve, from Hyzante!
- Narve: My grandfather was a great sorcerer, and I inherited a school of magic from him.
- Narve: But I was chased out by that deceitful Medica who claimed I disobeyed the teachings...
- Narve: I was at a loss of what to do when I saw you were recruiting magical soldiers...so here I am.
- Serenoa: If you cannot return to your home, then you are welcome to put your powers to use here.
- Narve: Woohoo! Thank you, sir!
Achievements Erased[]
Narve speaks with Geela about her home of Hyzante and his grandfather's place in their history...
- Narve: I'll prove that memorizing all those long words was worth it!
- Narve: That should do it! You should be able to use that arm just fine in no time.
- Wolffort Soldier: Many thanks, lad. You truly are a talented one.
- Wolffort Soldier: My apologies for treating you like an intruder the other day...
- Narve: Think nothing of it, my good man! If you need anything else, I'm more than happy to help.
- Geela: Your magic never ceases to amaze. Did you learn everything from your grandfather?
- Narve: You bet I did! The archmage Grandante taught me everything I know!
- Geela: Grandante...
- Geela: There's something I've been meaning to ask you, Narve.
- Narve: Ask away!
- Geela: I was in Hyzante for a short time, studying at the Ministry.
- Geela: No doubt you know it's considered the greatest authority in this world when it comes to matters arcane.
- Geela: Their library contains everything from records of magically enhanced soldiers to technical tomes and much, much more.
- Geela: Their chronicles on the history of magic, too, were the most comprehensive in our realm.
- Geela: And yet, I do not recall seeing even a single mention of a mage named Grandante.
- Geela: One would think the achievements of such a powerful sorcerer would be recorded somewhere. Why are they not?
- Narve: Those awful Hyzantians... Truly, they have no shame!
- Geela: Narve?
- Narve: The chronicles you speak of...in truth, they were written by my grandfather's own hand.
- Geela: Wh-what!? But then why is he not credited by name?
- Narve: He refused to do the research the former hierophant ordered of him, and was branded a heretic and unbeliever.
- Narve: They erased his name and achievements from the records, and made it like he never existed at all.
- Narve: He was then banished from the city and died in exile, his name all but forgotten.
- Narve: It's all their fault no one knows of the archmage Grandante!
- Geela: I...I had no idea...
- Narve: These robes I wear were once his. They're the only remaining proof that he once walked this realm.
- Geela: So you carry his memory with you everywhere you go.
- Narve: I promised myself I would make the archmage Grandante's name known around the world.
- Narve: So I'm going to work harder than I've ever worked before—until all in the realm know his story!
- Narve: And in the process, I'll become the greatest mage this world has ever seen!
- Geela: That's the spirit!
- Narve: Thanks, Geela. Just you watch, Grandfather! I'm going to make you proud!
Disciple of the Archmage[]
Narve heals an injured child with his grandfather's magic...
- Narve: Damn it all... At this rate, I'll never come close to carrying on grandfather's legacy...
- Narve: Maybe I was never destined to be a great mage after all...
- Child (M): Owww! It hurts!
- Geela: Oh no! The poor child's fallen!
- Narve: Hey there. Are you hurt?
- Child (M): Ow! It hurts so bad I can't even stand...
- Narve: Not to worry! I'll fix you right up, so dry those tears.
- Child (M): R-really?
- Narve: Yep! The pain will disappear like magic, you'll see!
- Child (M): Whoa! It doesn't hurt anymore! Thank you, ser!
- Child (M): Grandma, look! My leg's all better now!
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): Well, I'll be. Thank you so much for healing my grandson.
- Narve: You don't need to thank me. This is nothing!
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): Those robes... You wouldn't happen to be a student of the archmage Grandante, would you?
- Narve: You know my grandfather!?
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): Oh... Of course I do!
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): What a great man he was. Always using his magic to help those in need, much like you.
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): I was just one of many whose lives he saved. Why, that was over thirty years ago...
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): I lost my house to the fires of war, and nearly my life along with it.
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): But he quenched the flames with his spellcraft, and healed my burns.
- Wolffort Townsperson (F): Had it not been for the archmage Grandante, I would not be here today. I am forever in his debt.
- Narve: Even though grandfather's name was erased from Hyzante's records, his memory lives on in the people he helped...
- Geela: It sounds like he was a truly amazing man, indeed.
- Geela: And I know he would be proud of you for following in his footsteps.
- Narve: Haha. Do you really think so?
- Geela: I do. And I have no doubt that one day you will restore the glory to your grandfather's name.
- Geela: No matter what the Ministry does to erase his existence, his spirit lives on through you.
- Narve: Right! But I must keep practicing, that I might help even more people with my spells!
- Narve: Just watch me, Grandfather! I'll restore the honor of your name if it's the last thing I do!
Mid-Battle Conversations[]
Final Chapter: Blessed Freedom[]
vs. Idore[]
- Narve: I've been waiting for this... The day I get to use my grandfather's magic to destroy you!
- Idore: Careful, boy. Striking me is tantamount to striking the Goddess Herself.
- Narve: You're the one who ought to be careful! You're going to pay for what you did to the archmage Grandante!
Final Chapter: For Norzelia[]
vs. Idore[]
- Narve: I've been waiting for this moment, Idore. Today I take vengeance for my grandfather and all the rest you've caused misery!
- Idore: Ah, so you're Grandante's descendant. Good. I can bring his wretched name to an end once and for all.
