Profile[]

Orlaea was a legendary Rosellan hero who freed a group of Rosellans from the Source during the Saltiron War. Despite earning the Holy State of Hyzante's ire, Orlaea was able to flee to the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, and became a concubine of Zigmunt Aesfrost. During Orlaea's time in Aesfrost, she not only gave birth to Frederica Aesfrost, but penned a diary detailing the secrets of the Rosellans. Orlaea hid her diary deep within Aesfrost's Archives, and sealed it away with a powerful spell. She gave her necklace, the key to breaking the diary's spell, to Frederica, in hopes Frederica would one day follow in her footsteps. Towards the end of the Saltiron War, Hyzante offered Aesfrost a peace treaty under one condition: Aesfrost must return Orlaea to Hyzante. After Archduke Zigmunt agrees to this condition, Orlaea is sent back to Hyzante, where she spends the last of her days in misery and anguish.

The Salt Crystal taken from the Goddess' Statue

"This is a legend handed down by the Roselle since times of old. It is the secret history of Norzelia. I Orlaea Roselle, am recording the legend here as the last keeper of these histories...

  • In ancient times, the Roselle lived in Centralia, a land to the distant south of Norzelia. It sat on the shore of the "sea," a Source that extended to the horizon and beyond. It was said to be a paradise, a place where people never wanted for salt. The Roselle knew more about salt than anyone for it was a part of their everyday lives.
  • In those days, Norzelia still rested at the bottom of the sea. But a cataclysm brought it to the surface, turning it into land. The sea dried up, and the small portion that remained is what we know today as the Source.
  • Eventually, many people migrated to the new land of Norzelia. They waged war over the Source, wishing to get their hands on its precious salt. Our ancestors came to Norzelia in hopes of putting an end to the fighting.
  • They knew that the salt still remained, even without the sea. It merely crystalized and sank deep into the earth... After all their searching, they unearthed a giant crystal...No, a very pillar of salt. They showed it to the people of Norzelia, told them that salt could be found beneath their very feet.
  • However, those who had seized control over the Source sought to reign over all of Norzelia by controlling the salt. They, the Holy State of Hyzante, attacked and slaughtered the Roselle.
  • They hid the pillar, erased the existence of salt crystals, and imprisoned the surviving Roselle at the Source. Thus we were branded sinners, criminals who wanted sole dominion over the land's salt. To justify their own monopoly, Hyzante created the Goddess's Teachings, but she needed a villain.
  • To this very day, the Roselle are scorned, made to shed blood and tears, all in Her name...But the Goddess Herself is proof of the Rosellan legends.
  • I saw it with my own eyes during the uprising. Inside of Her statue is the pillar of salt that was taken from our ancestors. But I could not expose the truth of the Goddess. It took everything I had just to get a fragment...
  • But that piece is the key to freeing the Roselle. It must be. For my brethren who continue to suffer for a crime they did not commit..."

Saltiron War[]

Saltiron War

The Saltiron War was a conflict between the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, the Kingdom of Glenbrook, and the Holy State of Hyzante 30 years before the events of Triangle Strategy. It all began when Archduke Zigmunt Aesfrost grew furious at Hyzante's monopoly over salt. Zigmunt contacted King Regna Glenbrook regarding passage into Hyzante, and asked for an alliance with Glenbrook. Regna agreed to allow the Aesfrosti army to pass through Glenbrook's land, with the catch being Aesfrost must maintain joint control over the Source with Glenbrook once they conquer Hyzante. When Aesfrost first marched on Hyzante, the Goddess' Shield kept the Holy State safe for a while. But what truly drove back the Aesfrosti was a warrior sought out by the hierophant: a warrior by the name of Symon Wolffort. Symon and his clan drove back Aesfrost's forces, and proved themselves to be a fearsome band of warriors.

The war came to a standstill, with House Wolffort and Hyzante fending off Aesfrost and Glenbrook. During the standstill, the hierophant succumbs to illness, and the Saintly Seven bicker over who would succeed the hierophant. Orlaea, a Rosellan, uses this chaos to encourage her fellow Roselle at the Source to rebel and flee Hyzante. Saint Archibald Genoe assists the Roselle in their escape, and is promptly dismissed from the Saintly Seven. Hyzante made an effort to cover up this embarassing show of instability, as soon after Minister Idore Delmira finally found a new Hierophant.

The standstill continued for years, until King Regna took initiative and met in secret with Symon Wolffort. The two agreed to withdraw themselves from the war, and demanded Aesfrost and Hyzante to do the same. Aesfrost and Hyzante, not wanting to face the combined might of Glenbrook and the Wolffort clan, ceased their fighting and entered into a peace negotiations with Glenbrook. Zigmunt had to hand over the escaped Roselle Orlaea to Hyzante, before Hyzante finally signed the peace treaty and ended the war. The three countries maintain the borders before the war and establish the Norzelian Consortium to fairly manage the trade of salt and iron around Norzelia. King Regna rewards Symon's valor by making him the lord of House Wolffort, along with giving other members of the Wolffort clan houses of their own. Regna appoints Gorde Telliore, Symon's advisor, as the lord of House Telliore. Regna appoints Landroi Falkes, an archer in Symon's clan, as the lord of House Falkes.
