A Precious Gift[]
A young boy with a mysterious power lives within the woods of Glenbrook. Just what can his eyes see?
- Mysterious Child: I can hear it calling me... I must go.
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): Huff, huff... There you are!
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): How many times must we tell you? It's too dangerous to go off on your own! You have a precious gift that must be protected.
- Mysterious Child: I'm sorry, but I cannot stay.
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): Did you see something again?
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): ...You once foresaw a terrible landslide near the village.
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): Had we not evacuated, we all would have perished.
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): What do you see this time!?
- Mysterious Child: Something I must do, so if you'll excuse me...
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): W-wait! Don't go!
- Wolffort Soldier: Excuse me, my lord, but an odd child has requested an audience with you.
- Serenoa: A child?
- Wolffort Soldier: We tried turning him away, but he insists on meeting—you there! Stop!
- Quahaug: You are Serenoa, yes? I am called Quahaug. Pray allow me to join your company.
- Serenoa: You look troubled. Is something the matter?
- Quahaug: I can see the past and future—all that has been and all that will be.
- Quahaug: The other day, I had a vision. I saw the two of us, fighting together. It was a vision of my destiny.
- Serenoa: ......
- Wolffort Soldier: You needn't entertain the boy's nonsense, ser. I will have him removed at once.
- Serenoa: No, I would not see a child turned away. Let us hear more of his story.
- Anna: Excuse me, my lord, I could not help but overhear...
- Anna: I have heard of a child from a nearby village with the power to see the future.
- Anna: Would that happen to be you?
- Quahaug: It would. You must be Anna. I've had visions of you as well.
- Anna: How do you know my name?
- Quahaug: In the visions, that is what I always called you.
- Anna: ...It would appear the rumors are true.
- Quahaug: I am certain my power can aid you in many ways. Please take me in.
- Serenoa: Quahaug, I do not possess the power to see the future you have been privy to.
- Serenoa: But I believe this meeting was fate. If it is your wish, you shall have a place in my company.
- Quahaug: Excellent. I thank you.
Visions of Mother[]
Quahaug has the ability to see through time. But his visions are not always happy ones...
- Anna: So you can peer through time?
- Anna: How did you come to possess such a power?
- Quahaug: I cannot say. I've been having these visions for as long as I can remember.
- Anna: Hmm... Were I able to see the future like you, I could be of more use to House Wolffort.
- Quahaug: It isn't all good, you know. Sometimes you see things you wish you hadn't...
- Quahaug: I saw myself being abandoned by my mother.
- ???: He is in your hands now. Here is the money we agreed upon. Take this, too.
- Wolffort Townsperson (M): Thank you for your generosity. I shall take good care of him.
- ???: You shall speak of this to no one. Make sure he wants for nothing.
- ???: I will return for you one day, Quahaug. Until that time, be good.
- Quahaug: ...And then the vision ends. Whenever I think of my mother, I always see that woman.
- Quahaug: I don't understand it at all, but I know that lady is my mother. She promised she would return, but...
- Quahaug: ...She never came back.
- Quahaug: I've asked the villagers what my mother gave them, but...
- Quahaug: They claim to have received nothing. I know I saw it, though.
- Anna: Have you had visions of your mother since?
- Quahaug: ...No.
- Quahaug: She...left me after all... Oh, Mother...why? And where are you now?
- Anna: Quahaug...
Dreaming of Mother[]
Anna searches for the letter left by Quahaug's mother...
- Anna: Quahaug?
- Quahaug: Anna... I had a vision. I saw that you were investigating my past.
- Anna: ...Nothing gets by you, it seems.
- Anna: I've been looking into the man your mother spoke to. I thought it would give us a clue to her identity.
- Quahaug: Did you find anything!?
- Anna: I wished to ask him about the exchange myself, but it appears he went into hiding right after that.
- Anna: I did find a letter addressed to you in an abandoned house. I think your mother gave it to him.
- TITLE CARD: My dearest Quahaug...
- TITLE CARD: I would love nothing more than to see you again before this letter comes into your hands.
- TITLE CARD: No doubt this has been a difficult time for you, and I apologize for not explaining myself before I left.
- TITLE CARD: I did this to protect you from Idore. I could not bear to see him use you in his foul schemes.
- TITLE CARD: My beloved son, how I wish to see you again. But I cannot. Not yet...
- TITLE CARD: I swear I will return for you someday. Promise me that you will be a good boy until then.
- Quahaug: ...I don't quite understand, but it sounds like she misses me.
- Anna: Indeed it does.
- Quahaug: Then that means she didn't abandon me out of hate.
- Quahaug: I was so scared. I thought she'd never come and I'd be alone forever...
- Anna: You have nothing to be afraid of, Quahaug.
- Quahaug: Anna... I hope I can see my mother again someday.
- Anna: And you will.
- Quahaug: Really?
- Anna: Once this war is over, your mother will have heard of your deeds, and will come for you.
- Anna: You can ask her all about the circumstances then. You can tell her how upset you were.
- Anna: Have hope, Quahaug. Believe in your heart that day will come.
- Quahaug: I will. And when I finally see Mother...
- Quahaug: I'm going to hug her just like this! And never, ever let go!
