Profile/Story[]

Background[]

The Saltiron War was a conflict between the Grand Duchy of Aesfrost, the Kingdom of Glenbrook, and the Holy State of Hyzante set 30 years before the events of Triangle Strategy. It all began when Archduke Zigmunt Aesfrost grew furious at Hyzante's monopoly over salt. Zigmunt contacted King Regna Glenbrook regarding passage into Hyzante, and asked for an alliance with Glenbrook. Regna agreed to allow the Aesfrosti army to pass through Glenbrook's land, under two conditions. One, Zigmunt Aesfrost had to acknowlege the legitimacy of Glenbrook's main royal line to the throne. Second, Aesfrost and Glenbrook must maintain joint control over the Source once they conquer Hyzante. Zigmunt agrees to these terms, and takes his army through Glenbrook's land. When Aesfrost first marched on Hyzante, the Goddess' Shield kept the Holy State safe for a while. But what truly drove back the Aesfrosti was a warrior sought out by the hierophant: a warrior by the name of Symon Wolffort. Symon and his clan drove back Aesfrost's forces, and proved themselves to be a fearsome band of warriors.

The war came to a standstill, with House Wolffort and Hyzante fending off Aesfrost and Glenbrook. The standstill continued for years, until King Regna took initiative and met in secret with Symon Wolffort. The two agreed to withdraw themselves from the war, and demanded Aesfrost and Hyzante to do the same. Aesfrost and Hyzante, not wanting to face the combined might of Glenbrook and the Wolffort clan, ceased their fighting and entered into a peace negotiations with Glenbrook. Through Regna's patience, the three countries finally decided to maintain the borders before the war, and establish the Norzelian Consortium to fairly manage the trade of salt and iron around Norzelia.

King Regna had three children with an unnamed wife. In order from oldest to youngest, they were Frani Glenbrook, Roland Glenbrook, and Cordelia Glenbrook.

King Regna rewarded Symon's valor during the Saltiron War by making him the lord of House Wolffort, along with giving other members of the Wolffort clan houses of their own. Regna made three high houses: House Wolffort, House Telliore, and House Falkes. While one of the reasons he divided the Wolffort clan into three was to diminish their power, he also divided the Wolffort clan with the intent of reducing the power of the Loyalist and Royalists that spearheaded Glenbrook's politics. The Loyalists and Royalists were aristocrats, who aimed to control the king indirectly through keeping the royal bloodline "pure" and making political decisions for the king. In the end, the creation of the three high houses only barely weakened the Royalists' political power, and they continued to get away with many evils under Regna's name and backing. Patriatte Konsar was one such Royalist, and he tricked crown prince Frani Glenbrook into blackmailing Regna for the throne. In the end, Frani Glenbrook and Regna were naught but politcal puppets, jealous of Roland Glenbrook's freedom.

Before the game began, Regna entered into relations with a Glenbrook commoner by the name of Destra. The two had a child together, much to the Royalists' ire. To prevent the Royalists from assassinating Destra and her unborn child, Regna sent Destra to House Wolffort for protection. Their child was Serenoa Wolffort.

King of Glenbrook[]

Due to the strained relations between the three nations of Norzelia, Regna decides to use a newly-found vein of iron in Glenbrook's territory to unite all three countries. The Grand Norzelian Mine Venture was a mining program which encouraged all three nations to study and extract the iron found in the Grand Norzelia Mines. Regna appoints his son, Roland Glenbrook, as the mines' Glenbrook representative. Tragedy strikes when Dragan Aesfrost, the overseer of the mines, is killed by Aesfrosti soldiers.

The Kingdom of Glenbrook gets taken over by Aesfrost, and Regna is immediately sentenced to execution by Archduke Gustadolph Aesfrost on charges of theivery and treason. During his execution, Regna lies and says that he sought to take sole control of the Grand Norzelian Mines by killing Dragan Aesfrost. He does so in one final attempt to save his two surviving children. He is beheaded, and his kingdom taken by Gustadolph.
