An Honest Living[]

Travis's former crew attempts to live honest lives, but things do not go as smoothly as he hoped...

  • Geela: Travis!
  • Geela: I heard you were involved in a fight earlier in town. Is that true?
  • Travis: W-well, y'see...
  • Geela: You simply cannot use violence against innocent townspeople!
  • Geela: You told us you had a change of heart and washed your hands of banditry, did you not?
  • Travis: ......
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: You got it all wrong, Miss Geela!
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: There's a real good reason it came to blows!
  • Geela: ...Is there now?
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: We've been workin' honest jobs since getting pardoned by Lord Serenoa, y'see.
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: But then a bunch o' those awful money lenders got wind of it...
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) B: And started tellin' everyone we was bandits just to spite us.
  • Travis: Then these fellas got booted from their jobs 'cause of that.
  • Travis: I know how hard they were workin' to turn over a new leaf, so I went over there, and...
  • Travis: Please, you gotta believe me!
  • Travis: Our days of thievin' are in the past! We're honest folk now!
  • Saltmonger: Once a thief, always a thief. Men's hearts don't change so easily.
  • Saltmonger: Besides, weren't you their leader? From what I hear, your daughter was a dirty thief as well.
  • Travis: That...that was all my doin'. Poor girl had no choice in the matter!
  • Saltmonger: Do you take me for a fool? You two robbed people together!
  • Saltmonger: She's got a scoundrel's blood in her, and always will. Same goes for all of you filthy thieves!
  • Travis: I'd choose my next words carefully if I were you. Say whatever you will 'bout me...
  • Travis: But another word against my daughter or my mates and they might be yer last!
  • Saltmonger: Threaten me all you like, it won't change a thing.
  • Saltmonger: You were born scoundrels. Admit it—you've already helped yourself to some of my wares, haven't you?
  • Travis: You bastard!
  • Geela: I had no idea...
  • Travis: But you're right. I'm just a big fool makin' an even bigger mess o' things.
  • Travis: Bein' honest's a whole lot harder than thievin', I'll tell ye that...
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: But, Boss...you did what you could...
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) B: Always thinkin' of us... Yer the best, Boss...
  • Travis: No, I owe you an apology.
  • Travis: You were tryin' so hard, and I'm just sittin' around here gripin'!
  • Travis: This's all my fault.
  • Travis: And I'm gonna set it right. Just give me some time!
  • Geela: Travis...
  • Geela: Thank you for telling me what happened. I will speak to Lord Serenoa and Lady Frederica on the matter.
  • Geela: In exchange, you must promise never to resort to violence again. Understood?
  • Travis: I swear it. Thanks, Miss Geela.

Bandit Boss[]

The people look upon the former bandits with contempt. Travis seeks out the employer of his former crewmates.

  • Travis: I can't thank you two enough.
  • Hossabara: You needn't thank me. We're just helpin' each other out, no?
  • Hossabara: You needn't thank me. We're just helpin' each other out, no?
  • Jens: Indeed. I was in need of a few extra hands, so the help is more than welcome.
  • Jens: Indeed. I was in need of a few extra hands, so the help is more than welcome.
  • Travis: Still...I owe you two. I promise I won't forget this.
  • Geela: Was that Hossabara and Jens? It seems you've been busy these days.
  • Travis: I had some favors to ask of 'em.
  • Travis: Ever since my crew lost their jobs, I've been tryin' to help 'em find new ones.
  • Travis: Then one day it hit me: I could have 'em work for those guys.
  • Travis: They trust my crew and could keep a close eye on 'em.
  • Geela: I see. An admirable plan, if I do say so myself.
  • Travis: I thought the ones good with their hands could work at the smithy, 'n' the talkers who know their liquor at Hossabara's tavern.
  • Travis: Those two agreed without a second thought. Can't thank 'em enough.
  • Geela: It couldn't have happened without you, Travis. You know your crew's merits better than anyone else.
  • Geela: And thanks to all your hard work lately, it seems both the tavern and smithy are back in business.
  • Travis: For a while, I wasn't sure what would happen to us, but it looks like we might be makin' an honest livin' after all.
  • Travis: That's half a weight off my mind.
  • Geela: Would the other half happen to be your daughter?
  • Travis: Trish was born into the bandit life 'cause of me.
  • Travis: All she knows is thievin', so it ain't easy for her to just start livin' an honest life all of a sudden...
  • Travis: I wonder how she's doin' now. I just hope she ain't sad.
  • Geela: I don't think there's anything for you to worry about. She is your daughter, after all.
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: Yeah, Boss!
  • Travis: What're you doin' here? I don't need you to cheer me up over my own daughter.
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) B: Boss, I heard somethin' 'bout that merchant what upset you the other day.
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) B: They said he was sulkin' around town with lumps the size o' melons on his head!
  • Travis: I-it wasn't me! I swear!
  • Geela: Then that must mean...
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) A: It's gotta be Trish!
  • Travis's Former Henchman (M) B: There's no way she'd let a bastard like 'im get away clean! Haha!
  • Geela: Like I said, there's nothing for you to worry about...probably.
  • Travis: Oh, Trish...

Chapter XVI: Sleep, My Friend[]

near Benedict[]

Final Chapter: Blessed Freedom[]

vs. Idore[]

  • Travis: Me, I don't care about the Goddess or rebelling or whatever—but the treasure in Centralia? Now that's worth fighting for!
